For plumbing leaks, pressurized testing reveals problems that might not be obvious during normal operation. Turn off the pump and heater, then observe whether water continues leaking from suspected pipe connection points. If water still drips, the leak originates from static pressure—the weight of water in the pipes themselves. Sometimes cracks visible from inside don't penetrate completely through the shell wall, in which case they won't leak even though they're cosmetically unsightly.
